Proper Postpartum Care
Postpartum is a time of rejuvenation and renewal for the uterus. Much like the period, the body is in a cleansing state and requires proper care to achieve optimal detoxification of afterbirth. Once the afterbirth has cleared, a maintenance time period of 9-12 months is undergone to return all body functions to normal before menstruation returns.
Here is a list of things you can do to help your body during this delicate state:
- REST: This is absolutely the best thing you can do for your body! If you don't get enough rest it effects your uterus and can results in signs of uterine fatigue. This includes
- STAY WARM: Keeping your body warm and eating warm foods will support circulation and help the body attain a full uterine cleanse
- DON'T PLUG UP YOUR YONI: The use of tampons interrupts the natural flow of the detoxification and can cause stagnation in the womb. This stagnation can prevent the full cleanse from taking place and cause cramps. If you are experiencing cramps you may massage the area to bring circulation back.
